7 Tips for Fall Layering

Layering can be tricky, but here are 7 everyday easy ideas that you can use to layer your outfit to perfection! Also, try buying at stores like Target, Forever 21, Garage, H&M or even Walmart for the same looks, but on a more frugal budget! I buy almost all of my clothes on sale or at cheaper stores. Why spend $100 on a top, when you can get the same look, for $20? Enjoy!

# 1 - Scarves
Choose scarves with different colours, textures and shapes. You can easily wrap them around your neck once and it will instantly make your outfit more interesting!

#2 - Belts
Add a belt around your waist or your hips to add some colour and break up your outfit into sections. Visually it's very interesting to look at!

# 3 - Blazers
Super easy for fall, pull on a comfy blazer for a more casual look, or a more business one for work. Blazers are great for warmth, and also for a smart and sophisticated look!

# 4 - Cardigans
I'm a teacher, so naturally I love cardigans! Try different colours, stripes, or even polka dots if your so inclined! Either way, a cardigan is one of the easiest way to layer up your clothing.

# 5 Shirt Dresses
Super long shirts that can be used as a dress are also an interesting way to layer. Make sure you add some leggings though...be a lady! When leggings and long shirts are put together, it can make a chic look!

# 6 Statement Necklaces
Chunky necklaces can easily complete an outfit. My favourites are bright colours, and interesting shapes. Get 2-4 necklaces that can be used on different outfits and it'll be super easy to accessorize and layer your outfit.

# 7 Long Tanks
If you wear a long tank as a base layer, and put another shirt or sweater overtop, the extra colour will pop through on top and/or on the bottom. If you use contrasting colours, the look is very visually pleasing. Again, a super easy way to stay warm this fall... and look great!

Bonus!
I'll go into more complex layering ideas (design, texture, pattern ect) later, but try this somewhat more complicated Bonus Tip!

# 8 A blouse and sweater
This can be a bit tricky to pull off, but if you get the length and colours right, this layering technique looks great! An easy way to do this is get a button up work shirt that's a neutral colour, and put a colourful sweater overtop.

Little Blue Dress

It was my anniversary today, so I got to play dress up again! I love the vibrancy and cut of this dress...AND it's super comfy!

Dress - Jones New York $150
Cardigan - Smart Set $25

Ruching - A Girls Best Friend (Unlike Spanx!)

I admit that I haven't been super active lately, so I've added on a few pounds during the last month or so. I needed a fancy dress for a few events coming up, but have a love/hate relationship with Spanx so I wanted to find something that would have some ruching so I would feel more comfortable in it (and wouldnt have to wear spanx!). I found this lovely flowey dress with a sweetheart neckline AND ruching!

Its a great example of what ruching can do...even to just make you feel more confident in your amazingness!

Dress - $250 Ralph Lauren at The Bay (bought on sale for $40!)
Necklace - $18 Le Chateau
